Windows On The World Restaurant Menu - World Trade CenterThis menu is undated but most likely precedes 1980 and is about 40 years old : a Filet Mignon entree was .50.
This is a collectible memorabilia item from this iconic restaurant. I dined there with my folks, and they kept the menu. It measures 14.75 x 10.5 when closed and opens to two full pages.
It has some water spots, but that is the reality of a paper menu. This could also be useful for an artist who is creating a collage or art piece about 9/11. There's some creases and the edges are worn in some parts. The orange graphics are memorable.
Developed by restaurateur Joe Baum and designed initially by Warren Platner, Windows on the World occupied 50,000 square feet of space in the North Tower. The restaurant opened on April 19, 1976, together with a smaller more intimate restaurant called Wild Blue. The dress code required jackets for men and was strictly enforced; a man who arrived with a reservation but without a jacket was seated at the bar. In 2000, its final full year of operation, it reported revenues of million, making it the highest-grossing restaurant in the United States.
