Description
WW1 British Artillery DCM Medal Set to Battery Sergeant-Major John Samuel Stacey. Includes the Distinguished Conduct Medal, Mons Star (1914 Star) with clasp and British War and Victory Medals. John Samuel Stacey served in France and Flanders with 26th Brigade R.F.A. from 16 August 1914. He was commissioned as Second Lieutenant in the Royal Field Artillery on 11 October 1915, and promoted to Lieutenant on 1 July 1917. He ceased to belong to the Reserve of Officers on 2 October 1934.Per the London Gazette, he was awarded the DCM on Jan 16th, 1916 ‘For conspicuous gallantry as Battery Serjeant-Major, whenever the battery was in action. He invariably displayed great bravery and coolness, and set a fine example of devotion to duty to all ranks.’
Group comes with copies of his medal cards and a copy of the London Gazette in which his DCM is announced.
Medals have been plated and shine brightly. Little bit of wear on the back of the 1914 Star. Overall though a fantastic medal set.
