    Description

    WW1 1914-15 Star Bi-Lingual Victory Medal Trio to Ednie, 1st/2nd S.A. Infantry
    T.Z. 12038 J. E. Thornton. Ord. R.N.V.R.
    James Edward Thornton, a Grocery Branch Manager from Halifax, Yorkshire, was born on 17 December 1899. He attested into the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve on 21 June 1917 for service during the Great War and served in H.M.S. Queen and H.M.S. Caesar. He was shore demobilized on 14 July 1919. Sold with named hallmarked silver Royal Antediluvian Order of Buffaloes medal engraved to him and with clasp for Sun Lodge., No. 2333. He married Julia Crowther in 1926 and he died in 1975. They had one child.
