    Description

    WWI BWF British War Medal..
    British War Medap.
    Named on the rim:
    AMOS C. HOAD
Research Opportunity. Any details forthcoming would be appreciated.
ADDENDUM: I have added the following feedback from a medal Enthusiast and Collector who sent me this:
"A search of the British medals index does not result in anyone named Amos Hoad.  Looking at the few Hoads listed with an A instead of a first name does also not result in any hits.  Without the regiment name after the surname, it is not likely to find this individual.  As a matter of fact, I have never seen a medal that only has the name."
Also, "Orleck" wrote the following thoughts:

I don't agree with the collector's feedback at all! I have plenty of first war medals that have only the recipient's name. They were issued to those serving in the Mercantile Marine (1914-1918). Award criteria : One or more voyages through a danger zone during the war qualified a mariner for the award of the medal, as did service at sea for not less than six months between 4 August 1914 and 11 November 1918.
The British war medal you have would normally have been issued as a pair with the Mercantile Marine medal. Both of which would have only had the recipient's name.
You may have a better chance of selling it if you would include his name in your listing's item title. If his surname was the same as mine, I would buy it if for no other reason
